ನಮ್ಮ ಫೇಸ್ ಬುಕ್ ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಶರಣ ಬಂಧುಗಳಿಗೆ ಶರಣು ಶರಣಾರ್ತಿಗಳು, ಶರಣರೇ ನಿಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಲಿಂಗಾಯತ ಧರ್ಮೀಯರು ಓಂ ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರುಬಸವ ಲಿಂಗಾಯ ನಮಃ ಎಂಬ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಮಂತ್ರವನ್ನ ಬಳಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಆದರೆ ಆ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಅರ್ಥ ಹಾಗೆ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಮಂದಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, ಇದರ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನ ವಿವರಿಸೋ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಇದಾಗಿದೆ.
ಈ ಮಂತ್ರವನ್ನ ದ್ವಾದಶ ಮಂತ್ರ ವೆಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತೆ. ಲಿಂಗಾಯತ ಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾದ ಮಂತ್ರ ಇದಾಗಿದೆ , ಇದರ ಅರ್ಥ ವೆಂದರೆ ಓಂಕಾರ ಸ್ವರೂಪಿಯಾದ, ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ, ಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ಲಯಗಳ ಕಾರಣ ಕರ್ತೃ ವಾದ ಪ್ರಾಣವ ಸ್ವರೂಪಿಯಾದ ಪರಮತ್ಮನಾದ ಲಿಂಗದೇವನಿಗೇ ನಮಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎನ್ನುವಂತಾದ್ದು, ಅರ್ದ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾದರೆ. ಉಳಿದಾರ್ದ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಓಂಕಾರ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಯಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿರುವ ಬಸವಣ್ಣನಿಗೇ ನಮಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿದೆ .
ಓಂ ಈ ಸ್ವರ ಎರಡು ಮಂತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮನಾಗಿದೆ., ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರು ಬಸವ ಎಂಬುದು ಬಸವಣ್ಣ ನವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಭಂದ ಪಟ್ಟ ಭಾಗಾವಾದರೆ, ಲಿಂಗಾಯ ಎಂಬುದು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಕರ್ತನ ಕುರುಹಾದ ಲಿಂಗದೇವನಿಗೇ ಸಂಭಂದಿಸಿದ್ದುದಾಗಿದೆ. ಗುರು ಬಸವಣ್ಣವರು ಈ ಧರ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ತಾಯಿ ಇದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆ, ಸುರ್ಷ್ಟಿಕರ್ತ ಪರಮಾತ್ಮನು ತಂದೆ ಇದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅದ್ದರಿದ ಈ ಎರಡನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಓಂ ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರು ಬಸವ ಲಿಂಗಾಯ ನಮಃ ಎಂಬ ಘನ ಮಂತ್ರವನ್ನ ರಚಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಚನ್ನ ಬಸವಣ್ಣವರು ಈ ವಿಷಯದ ಕುರಿತಾಗಿ ಬಹಳ ಮಾರ್ಮಿಕ ವಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ವಚನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರೆ.
ಅಯ್ಯ ಅಯ್ಯ ಎಂದರೆ ಅಯ್ಯ ಓ ಎನ್ನದೆ ಮಾಳ್ಪನೆ
ಅವ್ವೆ ಅವ್ವೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಅವ್ವೆ ಓ ಎನ್ನದೆ ಮಾಳ್ಪಳೆ
ನಾನು ಬಸವಲಿಂಗ ಬಸವಲಿಂಗ ಎಂದು ಬಯಲಾದೆನಯ್ಯ ಕೂಡಲ ಚೆನ್ನಸಂಗಮದೇವ.
ನಮ್ಮ ಶರಣರು ಪರಮಾತ್ಮನನ್ನು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಬಸವ ಲಿಂಗ ಎಂದೇ ಕರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಅದ್ದರಿದ ಓಂಕಾರದ ಸ್ವಾರೂಪನೆ ಆಗಿರುವ ಲಿಂಗದೇವನೇ ನಿಮಗೆ ನಮಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಓಂಕಾರದ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಯಾದ ಬಸವಣ್ಣ ನಿಮಗೆ ನಮಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಇದರ ಮೂಲ ಅರ್ಥ ವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಶರಣ ಬಂಧುಗಳೇ ನಿಮ್ಮಲಿ ಒಂದು ಮನವಿ, ಮಧುವೆ, ಗೃಹ ಪ್ರವೇಶ, ಸಭೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳ ಆಮಂತ್ರಣ ಪತ್ರಿಯಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಓಂ ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರುಬಸವ ಲಿಂಗಾಯ ನಮಃ ಎಂದು ಮುದ್ರಿಸಿ, ಸಮಾನ್ಯವವಾಗಿ ಮನೆದೇವರ ಅಥವಾ ಬೇರೆ ದೇವರ ನಾಮದ ಜೊತೆ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ ಎಂದು ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಮಲ್ಲೇಶ್ವರ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ ಅಂತಲ್ಲೋ . ಗಂಗಾಧರೇಶ್ವರ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ ಅಂತಲೋ ಹಾಕುವ ಮುದ್ರಿಸುವ ಬದಲು ಈ ಮಂತ್ರವ ಮುದ್ರಿಸಿದರೆ ಬಹಳ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಂಜಸವಾಗಿರುತ್ತೆದೆ.

I offer my Sharanu Sharanarthi to all sharan relatives of face book, as all of us know Lingayat’s are using Om Shri Guru Basavalingayanamha chant, but most of the people don’t know the meaning, intention of the hymn. This is a small effort to explain the same.
This hymn is called 12 lettered chant. This is very holly chant of the Lingayat religion. Meaning of the chant is I bow to the GOD Lingadeva who is the reason for Generator, Organizer and destroyer.second half of says I bow to the Basavanna the representative of Omkar.
Om is common to the both parts of the hymn. Shri guru basava is related to Basavanna and Lingaya is related to the Lingadeva the representation of the creator. Guru Basavanna is like mother to the religion and the creator God is as father. The hymn om sri guru basavalingaya namha is constructed with both.
Chennabasavanna gave a very beautiful vachana saying in this regard
If called father, cant he reply?
If called mother, cant she reply?
O Lord Kudala chennasangayya I got oneness by say Basavalinga Basavalinga.
Our sharana call GOD specially as Basavalinga, basic mean of the chant is, bow to you Guru Basavanna the Representative of the GOD representative of the God.
Request to all the sharana’s, while printing the invitation of wedding, house blessing, conference and etc, it would be more meaningful and relevant if print the chant Om Shri Guru Basavalingaya Namha as first line instead to print the names of the subtle gods.
